I have given this matter a lot of thought.
The left is characterized by wanting the common good for helping those who cannot. For that, taxes must be paid.
The right says that everyone should make their own living. And that those who struggle do not have to pay the bills of the lazy (poor). And that is why they want to pay fewer taxes and privatize everything.
But if we think about it, the right-wing has taken advantage of the resources of the country, the labor force, the infrastructures, and roads, etc.
And when it comes to paying their taxes, they don't want to. They say that the reason for their success is that they work hard and the poor do not.
It is ironic since the poor are poor because of the rich.
For example, the rich man has a factory. And to be more competitive, he lowered the salary to the employees. And evaded more taxes, and now he sells his products at a better price to earn more money at the expense of... the state, the system, and all his workers.
The stories of the successful rich are disgusting because they all took advantage of a corrupt system to hoard amounts of money that can't even be spent in 100 lives, leaving the rest with nothing to put in their mouths.
Reading you was an eye-opener for me. Thanks to you, I read Jessica Bruder and kept researching.
Great article Jessica.
