I learned that advice of reading aloud from Mario Vargas Llosa, who in turn learned it by reading Flauvert's correspondence with his lover, when he was writing Madame Bovary.

He called it the perfect word technique.

After writing, he would stand in a gallery of his house, with good acoustics, and read what he had written phrase by phrase. And he modified what didn't sound good.

Great comment, my friend.
