I think so. Buddhism was prior to Stoicism, but realize that it was in that strip between East and West where Buddhism and Stoicism went hand in hand. Buddhism came first.

Siddhārtha Gautama was born 563-483 B.C.

Zeno of Citium born 336 BC.

Buddha preached detachment to avoid desire which was the source of suffering two hundred years before Zeno did. So I think that deep down, without you realizing it, being a Mindfulness teacher and liking Buddhism, you are more stoic than you might think.

I am sorry for all that you have lost this time. But in your case I find everything that goes with your story very interesting: the volcano, the spiritual community. And that can be very powerful, and help a lot of people, if you transform it into a book. Well, what happened to you is not usual and can inspire many people. Thank you for being you.
