Of course it's boring. But it is that feeling of frustration and discomfort that we feel with something new that we are not good at, which indicates that the brain is creating new brain synapses. It's like going to the gym: it hurts but it gets you in shape. Consider that feeling of frustration in front of chess as the resistance of the gym weights, which makes your muscle grow, in this case your memory :-)
