Personally, it does me a lot of good to read you and Umair. I think someone must prick our balloon so that we can see the reality.

And the reality is nasty. We are children in adult bodies conditioned since kindergarten by companies that wanted to make money from our parents. And to educate us to be able to take it from us in the future as well.

Christmas was reinvented by capitalism, and it was given its own corporate mascot (as beer companies do): an overweight old man who gave us candy and presents.

And that was a dirty thing to do.

We grew up thinking that Christmas excesses are justified. And that if we don't have what we ask for, it is because we have been bad children, that is, losers (when the reality is that we were poor).

We grew up thinking that "Christmas lies" are better than reality. Because at least they come wrapped in wrapping paper, and we consume them while the lights are shining and Jingle Bells are playing.

It's as if Christmas was invented by a sociopath. Someone similar to the man who left you the chocolate bars message.

Thank you for writing, Jessica.
