We are living in difficult times
A 7.2 earthquake kills 2,000 people in Haiti, burying their dreams forever. The Taliban take control of Afghanistan, and its population regresses to the Middle Ages.
The global Cov-19 infection count exceeds 207 million, of whom 4.37 million have died. Climate change is transforming the world as we know it: heat domes, floods, droughts, mega-fires, climate refugees leaving their homes. We live in difficult times.
We all feel confused, overwhelmed, and powerless.
What is going on?
Just today, as I write this essay, chaos grips the Kabul airport, and at least 5 people are crushed to death by the crowd trying to escape the Taliban. People who have no voice, who have no present, and if they stay in these doomed lands, they will have no future.
For the Taliban, most Afghan citizens are considered traitors and spies and deserve death. The gravity of what is happening in Afghanistan is indescribable. The country is about to come under the control of Islamic fundamentalists, religious extremists, and warlords all rolled into one. A nightmare come…
